PROFESSOR

Ty is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Music Department at Lone Star College in Cypress, TX. 

While in the graduate program at New England Conservatory in Boston, Ty taught THYG 553: Principles of Harmony and Form, where he taught on three units: chromatic chords in part-writing, 20th century analytical techniques. He also taught Final Review - a pass/fail class taken by 25 graduate students who initially failed the Entrance Music Theory Competency Exam at NEC. After the course, all 25 students were able to pass. 

 

TEACHER

Prior to that, Ty spent many years teaching guitar, piano, and music theory to students of all ages. In addition to his work the conservatory, he has worked in various music centers, music camps, and schools overseeing the music departments or giving private music lessons to students of all ages. Ty gets satisfaction helping students understand difficult concepts by finding their strengths and using them to their advantage.

 

Ty is a talented music theorist who was given the opportunity to work with the Theory Department Chair, Katarina Miljkovic to create the following year's digital Graduate Music Theory Entrance Exam through ClassMarker.
